 Loss of Wellington 1C 71042 

In the course of researching the death of former Cranleigh School pupil, Flight Lieutenant Peter John Fisher, school archivist, Martin Williamson, has collected information regarding the loss of Wellington IC 71042, 4-5 March,1942.

"Took off 22.45-22.50 from LG 104.  Last heard of at 02.49.  The aircraft was later found by army personnel, crashed in the forward army area, 70-80km south of Bomba, DBF.   Two bodies were found, but their graves could not be located post-war.  All are thus commemorated on the Alamein Memorial"
